  • Tariff wars have begun

I think this is going to be more drawn out than people realize.

What opportunities do you see? What risks do you see?

Are you stocking up on anything in particular due to this?

Really glad we bought that pallet of JP solar panels last summer and the other components for our solar upgrade.

Thinking about a couple of mini splits that can be run off of solar now versus putting soft starts on our existing conventional AC units.

We've been meaning to add a mini split that runs on 110v so we can run that off grid. Our main AC is wired directly to the grid so it doesn't affect our solar.

Helene hit at a relatively good time, it was starting to get into the low 70's and high 60's at night, so their was some hot nights to sleep but not bad. A lot of people ran generators largely just to have AC. OK during a hurricane but a luxury and security risk is it was more serious. And within a day you knew everyone that had a generator within a mile, within a few days you knew who had more than just a can of gas...

9KW of solar now so we can "afford" to run a mini split if need be.

I've noticed some of the lower cost solar panels are already sold out at various sites like Signature Solar. There was a $.14 a watt panel deal about ten days ago, minimum buy was just 10 panels. That's stupid cheap and the lowest I've ever seen. Paid $.25 a watt delivered for a couple pallets last summer that we split with a friend.

Thermals are being affected- big time. The only lower cost thermal cores come from China and are used by most of the lower priced thermal manufacturers. InfiRay just sent dealers their new tariff included pricing and some thermals have gone up $1000. or more per unit.
