Why does the President pardon turkeys?

I found this press release from Joe Biden on the internet regarding this-

"You see people, people they ask me "Joe why do you pardon, I mean turkeys, turkeys?" . When I was a working stiff in Scranton, NJ in November of 1853 I saw a couple of male turkeys kissing on a street corner. Now even in Scranton I knew these two turkeys would soon be killed due to homophonia during that time period. And since my administration is the most exclusive inclusive I mean... alligator... I am going to pardon these turkeys so they can love as they see fit."
