  • Population growth or decline map

    Hopefully this will post correctly.

Found this map with color chart of areas in the country and whether they were growing in population or declining.

As survivalists, big growth areas we would want to avoid, but areas showing LARGE losses of population may present a long term problem for us also. About an hour north of here is a mid size town that was doing OK -or so I thought- for a long time, especially compared to other cities in this area of relatively same size.

Then one day I heard a gal at church saying her friend so and so that works at the HOSPITAL in that city was losing her job. Why? Cause they were closing down the hospital.
That can't be a good sign. That may show as a bad trend for the long term there- as well as something to consider for folks that are older, have underlying medical issues, etc.

i was a long way form home and met a couple from macon, ga... we got to talking and i asked how things were in macon. (at one point in our lives we'd lived in a nearby county.)
fine, but the killing is out of hand... 4 people were killed in a drive by shooting the day before.....

There is a shooting in Jacksonville almost every day, which is why I steer clear of there and stay out here in the semi-rural burbs. Crime is almost unheard of in this specific area, although go a mile or 2 away and people are complaining about gas thefts.
