  • what if?

you are sort of sure the ukrainian mess will be over soon and no spreading of dissent/war. you have awesome faith and assurance that the u.s.a. is blessed by God and no ill will befall her. But, some of your associates think current events are leading to the shtf in a major way... and they may be correct. who knows?

and you've been looking at an expensive thing, a tool, piece of equipment, pile of supplies, vehicle, or tractor, or whatever.
    however, the price is big.
you've been on a program of not buying if you can't pay cash, which has really been long term beneficial. some scripture supports "owe no man"

but this expensive thing is outside of your cash available. . and the price is climbing. you add to the savings a little each month, but the price is going up on the thing. every month.

the thing would be awesomely beneficial to have at your homestead if the shtf.

do you go buy it on credit? you won't get the cheapest interest rate because you haven't been borrowing. it will take several years to pay it off. if shtf, your finances will be hurt... all income is from governments or financial institutions or a job that is dependent on continuing stability in the country. if shtf is bad enough, you won't have income necessary to pay the monthly bill for the thing. but then again if financial institutions are failing maybe they won't bother to come repossess the thing!

    what if?

Finance that armored personnel carrier, definitely.
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

It depends - if it's consumables, go ahead and finance. By the time you go into delinquency, you'll have used it all up. If it's durable goods, you're taking a chance. If you can use it now to improve your survival chances when the SHTF, you're money ahead. If you can't use it until after the SHTF, then the risk likely outweighs the rewards (unless it's that armored personnel carrier).
