Did anyone that bought one actually receive it yet? Has anyone seen it on the newsstand?

If anyone has one, can you confirm if their is a 1/2 page ad for JRH Enterprises in there and if so, what the ad contains.

They have been absolutely horrible about communications..... 3 weeks to get replies to emails, talking in "word salad" so as to be vague in meanings, etc.

Appreciate the help if anyone can confirm the ad. Thanks

Got my copy a few days ago.

The JRH Enterprises ad is on page ten, at the bottom. Looks more like a 2/5 page rather than half page. Shows a PVS14 3rd Gen monocular for $2,995 and a PVS7 3rd Gen goggle for $3,295

I put my order in on 12-11-10 and received the copy within about 3-4 days. I was really surprised at how quickly mine arrived. Tucked in a brown wrapper with a big mailing label "Survivalist Magazine" LOL. I did spot the JRH ad as described by Jerry.

I felt the variety of topics was good but was hoping for "more meat" in the articles. I imagine it is near impossible to write for survivalists and balance the needs of newbies and those looking for more substance. I'm willing to see how they do with the upcoming issues once they've got a few issues under their belt.

I've seen this subject here and on Frugals and I'm perplexed that mine arrived quickly and others, who ordered before me, haven't seen their issue. Hoping they're able to work out the kinks. Perhaps its the timing with the holiday mail rush that's to blame.

Thank you all for the replies. I was getting worried after the lack of communication. I think I've been talking to the wrong person there though.

I finally got mine in. I responded to an e-mail of theirs unfavorably I might add as in I had not recieved it and they wanted me to send the e-mail to my friends. I sent them another response today after receiving my issue and asked for an address change to which they replied very quickly. The magazine is good, not great but good. I have high hopes for it as it grows. It had a familiar fishing article in it from a guy from Oklahoma. Kinda weirded me out after my posting not so long ago.
I have added 2 cell phone pics to show the ad in question. My scanner is down so this is the best I can do for now.

                    Thanks, appreciate it.

I'm hoping that they will be able to work out all the "bugs" and continue as a viable entity. Still have not seen it on any newsstand however. I bet that part is Bravo Sierra, at least for now.

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

After having read cover to cover my observations are as follows:
They have a good variety of articles and advertisements that cover everyone in the survival realm from those who lean more towards the hippie way to x-files type stuff. I'm somewhere in the middle I suppose.

I enjoyed the product review and the book review, those need to continue for sure.

The article on Currency was well written and thought out, there will be a lot who disagree with him I'm sure but nonetheless I liked it.

The surviving in the Free State was interesting though it did not convince me that New Hampshire is all that and a box of chocolate to folks who think as I do.

The fishing article was good, more in depth and better written and articulated than my posting recently but hey you get what you pay for. You buy a magazine you expect quality, you read a free blog and you expect my knuckledragging illiterate self LOL. Although it still is kinda weird that a guy from Oklahoma wrote something on the same subject in almost the same manner. Maybe we should go fishing together sometime.

The article on The State of the Prepared Mind was well written and a good piece and I enjoyed seeing the Bible reference too.

The article on Canned Soup was good, informative and practical.

The Homeschooling article was ok, I have to admit I got up in my feelings however when the author lumped soldiers in a category with "drones" and "People suited for life in a collectivist hive" and that our kids deserve better than this. Wow, better than someone who defended your right to write? Ok, easy, breathe, climb back off the soapbox because I did spend 20+ making sure she and others could talk this way, even about me.

What are you going to do about a Nuclear Threat/Device article was good and reminded me of the cold war days and how much I don't want to live if badly irradiated. I will be taking a 115gr pill rather than drowning on my bodily fluids.

The Antibiotics article was a good resource article though I caution you if you don't know what you are doing DON'T. You will harm yourself or worse someone you love. I fall into that category and I know my limitations. There are things you shouldn't try and do, unless there is no other option or you have been trained IMHO, one is lawyering and the other is doctoring.

Lone Wolf Syndrome was one of the best short reads I've seen in a while with good sense incorporated for the hollywood survivalist types, people who truly believe they do not need anyone else and those who fail to think beyond SHTF and what they are going to do.

All in all I like it and am going to keep receiving it. There are a lot of resources in it and a lot of the authors are well known in the field. Things I don't care for and would change are the giant Hemp add on the back and the lack of OPSEC wrapper.

Awesome. I told the publisher the same concerns that Matt did, hopefully they "get it" now. If they hear that from both subscribers and advertisers, it should become clear.
