I had occasion to work in Jakarta for some time when I was younger and all the work stopped if someone managed to score a monkey. No lie. All the western folks called this a "monkey break" The kids had a novel way of trapping them. They would empty a coconut, carve a hole just big enough for the monkey to get his hand into but to small to get his hand out with a fist full of nuts. The coconut was then tied to a tree and they waited. Every so often one of the monkeys was so greedy he would not let go of the nuts inside the coconut even to save his own life! Anyone seeing the parable here???
I'm betting most of you know a whole lot of monkeys? People whose entire life is consumed with the aquisition of more and more and more money, real estate, position of influence, a bigger or more expensive car, you know the type? You never see them at chirch, the kids ballgames, fishing, swimming, nothing! The only place you will notice them is at some bank or city hall, whereever they believe they will further their insatiable desire for more and more and MORE!!
Closets full of street or office attire, shelves of what they percieve to be valuable items, a big boat and three fancy cars.
They are doomed. The "Great American Consumer Pig Out" is OVER! They will be feral dog food!
