  • water as a commodity

I read this a couple of days ago on one of my regular news sites and decided to look into it more. Water will be trading on the commodities exchanges. We here have known that water is a precious commodity for a while, but now investors will seemingly start trading water futures. Will this drive the price up? Will this lead to scarcity? Regulation? Likely all. Small independent water companies like the one in my little town will likely be purchased by private equity firms and profits will be the goal, not service or safety. Time to get the dousing rods out and find an alternative source.

hmm. we have a lot of rain water "runoff"
maybe it's time to build a few swales to slow the runoff and get that water to soaking into the ground on this dirt to ensure water in the ground for the well.

i've got some rain barrels, again, time to get them under the downspouts!
