  • used tractor prices falling

maybe this should be in another forum?

a year ago, friend needed help buying a small tractor. we shopped carefully. found a 25 hp kubota a few years old for 18000. plain jane. loader.

i just saw an ad for the same tractor with loader and 2 implements advertised at 15000 OBO ... sounded too good. checked. not too good. about right. as many ads for comparables showed that prices were being cut 1500 to 2500.

    how come?
only 2 reasons i know of...
    1. folks don't want these little compacts any more.
2.. folks don't have the money to buy them any more...

    i think the answer is # 2.

bottom line. if you are looking for a compact sized tractor... this may be a good time to shop. and offering seller a smaller price might just get you a goodun for a good price!!

Every business that can or has sense to, has been running giveaway prices this year IMO. I know we have, despite facing massive increases in prices on NV components.

    It can't go on forever.

This is why it's good to have some available cash to snatch up those deals when they present themselves. They often don't last forever.
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

Exactly! during CV19 lockdowns I picked up a diesel Chevy Colorado z71 4x4 with 32K miles fully loaded, plus a 2003 Jet Ski 20' boat and a small farm tractor 4x4, all working for $18K Truck was valued at the time at about $30K...sold the boat for 4K, sold my car for 10K. I was able to pay cash and it was a estate sale, but they got no buyers for the big items as everyone was holding onto their cash. I think we are about ready to see more deals like this. I am already seeing campers on the side of the roads or in front of houses with for sale signs on them. Problem is most people bought them on credit and still has a payment, so they are wanting too much for them. They will get desperate enough soon. Same with cars and boats...either they will dump them and eat the loss or the banks will have them repo-ed and then try and sell. Either way, deals will be out there. I personally am waiting on land, and prices on Zillow are dropping everyday.
