I am trying to cut some expenses to counteract other rising costs. My internet and phone bill are bundled, and they are not cheap. We need a hardline because cell service is spotty at best here. To get a good signal is a mile away. I was wondering if anyone has had success with VOIP phones.

Have you tried a microcell to amplify the closest cell signal to your location? Otherwise, products like WeBoost might also help. I have no VOIP experiences to share, but did have a microcell when we had AT&T with virtually no cell signal in our location.

We changed from Verizon to Visible, which is owned by Verizon. We pay $25/month unlimited everything including hotspot....now the catch. It is regularly $40/month...but if you go in a "party" it decreases. If you do not have others to go in with then you can join an other party. Everyone is billed individually and nobody knows who is in the party unless they want to disclose. So, if it is just two in a party then it is $35/month, three is $30/month and four or more it is $25/month. Now, if you join and get others to join you get your month and they get their first month for $5. You can get $5 fo a month for everyone you get to join up to 12 people. We were paying $$$$ with Verizon and changed (Visible uses the same towers and network) and love it....Do not know if you have any cell coverage with Verizon, but it may be worth a look...

We have Metro by T-Mobile, again same towers and service, just no annual contract, and it's cheaper than Consumer Cellular for 2 lines unlimited.

WWD, I did try a cell booster, no change. For my cell service I have crack phone on Verizon lines. Ms Foster had another service with AT&T lines, no service at home. I had to get a new SIM card so hers would work on Verizon. Still, service is unpredictable. Our local 2-meter ham repeater is not accessible here either, but I can use repeaters 2-states to the northwest. Nothing to the south; tv, am, fm, ham, or cell. One of my engineer buddies says that there is a large granite field to the south of us that interferes. I had to take him at his word on that.
