Gas is under $4, but diesel is still up there well over $4. Will the normies be elated that the gubmint is "fixing" the fuel prices? Probably, but for me anything over $1.79 is the gubmint pushing an agenda with no plan. Honestly, do I have $60K for an EV? I have $60K but am I going to spend it on an EV? NO! Better I should pay off the motorhome (small loan) and get whole-house solar put in.

i had to google overton window... some of us are less educated than others!

in the meantime, i filled up yesterday at sam's in our neighboring big county... 3.6x ? i've never paid so much and been happy at the same time.
prices were over 4$ then this sudden drop in price.
apparently because georgia quit charging gasoline taxes for a couple of months.

making a little trip in our 6 to 7 mpg camper... whew. glad it is in state!

Luckily I have a Chevy Colorado diesel that gets 25mpg unless I am towing my camper, then it gets 12-13mpg....I filled up yesterday at same station and paid $4.99/gal diesel

its about $4 a gallon here in south west florida. yes, its me, the Kernal Panic from way back in the Frugals era checking in. can't get into my old Spock account, so made a new one.

all ya'll be not leveraging your options here on fuel.

oh before I continue, yeah its been 7 years since i checked in here, alot has happened, I no longer work in the IT industry at all. I'm a pizza delivery driver now. so that out of the way here is how ya'll can save on fuel:

              1. stop driving like an idiot. i spend all day behind the wheel. most people drive like its a nascar race. ease off the gas a bit. pay attention to the traffic light and not you phone. that way you prepared to go when its green, instead of gunning it to catch up once the guy behind you wakes you up with his horn. don't jam on the brakes, coast longer to the next light. basically pretend like your 85 year old Grams is in the car with you.
              2. keep the tires aired up. i'm guilty of not doing this. i aired up both cars the other day and one of them only had 15 psi in one of the tires, all the tires were atleast 10 psi low. 1/2 to 3/4s the cars on the road are riding on tires that are under inflated.
              3. If you can get a membership to a wholesale club do so. I'm a sams member. got 2 of em in my county. gas is usually 10-20 cents cheaper and combined with a good CC that kicks back 5% like the citi cad I have or sams master card, your fuel savings could be up to 40 cents a gallon. i bring gas cans with me and top up my delivery car daily with them. I'm basically my own gas station.
              4. if you can't get a membership to a whole sale club or if its so far away you'd never go there get a Gasbuddy fuel card. you get 5c off using their card and because its a gas card only, i've never had it get frauded. they have deal alerts you can check on your phone using their app and can save up to 20-25 cents off a gallon with just the deal alerts. they also have a premium membership that guarantees 20 cents off of 50 gallons a month, and you get road side assistance like towing with that. i've had a gas buddy premium membership for almost 4 years now and the tow truck incidents i incur every other year puts me way ahead.
              5. Publix if you live in the south. Publix runs a promotion, 1st week of the month usually just for that weekend, buy $50 in groceries and buy a gas card to the station of your choice worth $50 for $40. thats a 20% savings. I stock up bogo items when i go there and save a stupid amount of money.
              6. lastly, and this one I just tried and am still testing out so this isn't a full on endorsement yet, is the app getupside. same kinda deal as gas buddy, but you pay at the station with your own card and upload the receipt to them. also works at restaurants. I ate a local joint on wed and on friday got $1.04 kicked back to me. again i've only used this ONCE so your mileage may vary on this.

oh got robbed at Sams wed night. Rat bastard took $148 of my money. I told the deputy I delivered to yesterday about it, she said "oh no what happened?" told her pump #5 got me good.

drove down i75 in south georgia. had to go slow. as partner in a 25? thousand pound vehicle needed to drive slow.. put car (equinox 4 cylinder plain jane vehicle) on 58 cruise control... where we usually get 33? on the interstate... it showed 47 to 46. then drove on georgia 4 lane and 2 lane roads at 50 using cruise control and avg mpg went DOWN to 44-45 ...
58mph got better than 50!! i was amazed...

I get about 50 mpg on the highway at 70 mph, and about 35 around town at ~35 mph. I take the 70 mph toll road whenever I can just to let my car breathe!
