I like this stock, because of the versatility. But I don't think it will work for the Mossy, again an issue with the tang safety.

Mossberg 500 Stock - What whould u do?

I love the tang safety myself but as stated the pistol grip slows your reflex down and recently restocked a 500 for a friend with a speedfeed synthetic and really like that stock. We got it from Midway USA. The pistol grip is for very limited operations for sure but I keep one around for close in and lost key fixes:)
Main reason I keep it is because I got it for $50 in pieces in a grocery sack with the "it's your if you can figure out how to get it back together". LOL took me 5 minutes in the driveway before I even left his house it was working. Another good lesson on knowing your equipment

I've seen one type of pistol grip that was workable. A sorta flexible Pachmyr grip. Even that got to be a PITA after a couple dozen rounds.

I have stocked most of my short barreled shotguns..2 mossbergs and 3 870', with the hogue overmolded full stock and forend, great control and comfort.

regular stock. I agree pistol grips look cool but they put a hurting on the palms of your hands

Just a pistol grip on a shotgun LOOKS cool in a Sarah Conner type way..... However go to a class wherein you are shooting a couple hundred rounds of shotgun a day and it's disadvantages will become apparent very quickly.
Don't currently own any Mossberg's, just Rem 870 and Winchester Defender. Will likely continue to hold on to the 870's because they are so commonplace and I made an awesome trade a decade ago for about a half dozen complete bolt assemblies and misc. other spare parts.

Yep, the tang safety is the biggest downside to a Mossberg... I have a Marine 500 and tried a pistol grip stock and it just didn't work for me. Too bad, the 500 is a robust gun.

I never thought of that - Nice inputOriginally posted by Mjollnir View PostDue to the location of the tang style safety I would stick with a regular style stock. I had a pistol grip full length stock on a Mossberg Persuader years ago....... it sucked. They make sense on shotguns with the button safety located on the rear portion of the trigger guard but not tang safeties.

Mossberg 500 Stock - What whould u do?
I've got a Mossberg 500 with just a pistol grip on it. I really don't like this configuration and plan to put something else on it.
What would you do? A straight stock or the tactical stock with the saw style grip?
