I got my first 7.62x51 in an AR platform about six weeks ago it is a Bushmaster ORC, so far the gun digests any style of ammo and shoots better than I can point. You must have better luck with the less expensive scopes than I do, I went thru two different ones ( one BSA and one Leapers ) and I could not keep a good zero with the vibration and recoil. A Nikon M223 scope and mount now resides on top and I love the thing. This is the first scope that I have mounted and bore sighted when I fired the first shot the round hit two inches to the right of the bullseye at fifty yards. The only thing that I am going to change on the Bushy is to get a better trigger assembly.Thanks for the posts there is some good info there. Oh BTW PP have you found a good vest system setup for a 308, most everything out there is made for the 223?

There is a company called BDS that makes vest and chest rigs that are customized to your needs. They are a little pricey, but some of the products are not that expensive. You can also purchase some ammo pouches and place them on any molle adaptible vest or rig. It's good to hear that your bushy is working great. I think the companies today are putting a lot of effort into creating quality products. On the cheeper scopes, the Nikon has great glass but it is not a tactical scope. The only BSA that I know work are the fixed power Platinum series. I have also tested a 1-4 power on a 5.56 and it seems to work just fine. I have since put a Super Sniper 10x on the RR LAR 8 and it is doing great.

As far as vests, I am using the RR LAR 8 as a SASS so I am not really looking for a vest that holds the FAL mags. It is a medium range gun that I will be using for precision shots, so I won't be making a lot of fast mag changes. The gun will be carried in a drag bag.

Nice video. I especially like your philosophy that you desire quality, but top-of-the-line is not necessary.

I too purchase in (small) quantities. Having been a victim of the 1994-2004 ban, I understand how future generations may find it difficult if not impossible to purchase the things we can now. I purchase multiples now, for them, and cannot afford the best there is. Instead, I too look for the tools that get the job done without the extra cost.

Thanks for the comment. I believe the only way to survive is to have redundancy. One is zero, and two is one. You always need a backup, even if it for stripping parts.

The background noise is very annoying

I traced to noise to the computer I used to tape it. It's an older Mac that has a lot of usage. I think the hardrive or the fan is what is making that noise. It just started doing this, so I think it could be cause there is wear on the computer.

I've been dreaming about getting a LWRC REPR but the funding needed for such an endeavor is currently evading me. Have you had any disappointments with RRA? Thanks for the video.

Hey Abigailnumber2, you have expensive tastes. The LWRC REPR is a weapon to drule over. Beautiful gun. I have not shot it. But it is expensive.

Because I am prepping, I made a choice to buy less expensive guns. My belief and that of other preppers is: Two equals One. That means two or more of everything. If the SHTF there will be no gunsmiths, warratee repairs, or spare parts. While I do stock repair kits, having more than one gun is the best insurance.

I can also upgrade the Rock River and add a magpul stock, a BRUIS, new handguard, etc. - and that costs money. When I get about 2 or 3 more of the RR, I will start customizing. But I would rather have duplicates before I worry about the details like that.

Sorry if I got a little off track. To answer your question. I researched the heck out or the .308 weapons including the FN, FN copies, and other AR 10 type weapons. For the price and the purpose of my use (SASS), it came down to the DPMS and the RR. They are priced very close. I shot both and would have been happy with either.

The Rock River has so far exceeded my expectations. I bought it for 100 to 300 yards. So far in that range I can hit 1 MOA or less all day long. To get the 1/4 MOA at 100 yard with that gun (see video) to me is phenominal. The gun is super accurate. As far as reliability, after about 400 rounds, NO JAMS.

The AR platform in .308/7.62 may not be as durable a gun as some other systems. But I believe it makes up for it in accuracy. I know of several guys who have the AR platform and the RR and are highly pleased. It is a military weapon and built for combat.
