Scored a free truck topper. Yesss!
I bought a used Ford Ranger last month which I'm quite pleased with so far. Its an extended cab but still not a lot of room for storage thats not out in the elements. With just the BOB's, FAK/Trauma bag, and misc. car stuff (jumper cables, tie downs, oil, etc.) I can barely fit a weekends worth of campgear behind the seats.
I wanted to get a topper for those times when I needed more enclosed storage area but it was a little farther down my priority list. This weekend my brother rescued a topper that the neighbor had thrown out at the curb. Its in great condition. I can't figure out why he didn't just put it on craigslist but I'm not complaining. We couldn't find one thing wrong with it except it didn't have a key for the lock but I can work around that.
I don't plan on keeping it on the truck full time but it is very easy to put on and remove so if its bugout time I will have the ability to bring more with me that is better secured and not under a tarp in the bed. I am thrilled cause it was a blessing out of the blue that lets me knock one more thing off my "to get list" and it was free. :)
